Where smartphones rule our dinner table!

After seeing how this picture above has caught the attention of quite a few people on instagram, I figured that it was a blog worthy post and thought I’ll share with you what my group of friends has been recently challenged to do and maybe you and your friends might want to consider doing.

Ok, have anyone of you had a situation where everyone at a dinner table are probably pretty good friends, but no one is talking because everyone is pretty much on their phones? And maybe from time to time, you will have a short conversation, and most likely it would be about something interesting you found on facebook, twitter, instagram, blog you are reading or a whatsapp conversation.

I think you all know where I am heading with this post. Some may think I am exaggerating, some of you know exactly what I am talking about. It’s a real phenomenon happening today, whether consciously or unconsciously. And we realised that our fellowships have been diminished to just being physically together but not really “fellowshipping”. Those of you who are thinking… that’s me! I am just as guilty as you are. Eurovida, Paddington

It’s great to have a close girl friend who is equally passionate about cafe hunting as you… so when you decide on a place for catch ups, we are always looking for somewhere new to try. And Eurovida was cafe stop no.7. Both my friend and I decided to stop by for lunch. I had the house cured Salmon, and it was delicious, I clearly remembered an explosion of taste in my mouth in my first bite. Am I exaggerating? One way to find out… come try it for yourself! The plating was spectacular. The only downside for me was that the portion was a little bit small, even for a small eater like me! Either that, or I was just really hungry that day. Their homemade iced lemon tea was pretty good though! Continue reading

It’s never early to start…

After watching the movie “Courageous” with my life group, I was quite challenged about parenting. Some of the quotes that stood out for me during the movie…

“You know, if fathers just did what they’re supposed to do half of the junk that we face on the streets wouldn’t exist.”

“I’m accepting the fact that I have to learn how to do the hard things. There is so much in scripture about being a father, I never took time to look it up.”

“I don’t want to be a good enough father. We have a few short years to influence our kids. Whatever patterns we set for them in life will be used for their kids, and the generation after that. We have the responsibility to mold a life. And I don’t think that should be done casually. Half the fathers in this country are already failing, and I don’t want to be one of them. I’m talking about setting the standards that they need to aim for in life.”

I know it’s all in reference to fathers… cos the movie was catered for that. But mums have their role to play too! And a friend recently shared an article with me that I had to share with you all too… if not that would be terribly selfish of me not to! For all the mums and mums-to-be :)
